FRONT STREET FALL – September 20, 2017

In the previous post I said Coupeville was established in 1953, it should have been 1853, that makes a lot more sense.

Welcome to “Fall” 2017. After the most fantastic summer I can every remember we now transition into fall.

This mornings three mile walk showed me signs of fall on Front Street as well as some nice photographs of it.

It seems like most seaside towns have a street along the water named “Front Street” where the towns commerce first developed.

Coupeville was established in 1853 and over the next forty years grew from Front Street on up the hill. Today Front Street still hosts a lot of commerce, mostly in the form of curio shops, gift shops, clothing stores, restaurants and a tavern. Here’s what it looks like at 6:30 in the morning.

Here it is looking east from ground level.

And the first sign of fall with the leaves on this maple tree changing colors a little early. This is looking west down Front Street.

I almost feel like I need to apologize for this next photo but I just couldn’t help myself! Yup, it’s “Frank” again, our resident great blue heron sitting on its favorite lamp post over Penn Cove with the sunrise in the background, enjoy.

Have a great hump day and enjoy the fall season ahead.
